Grand Teton National Park Night Sky Festival Underway this Weekend

Stars and Constellations Appear In The Night Sky Above The Grand Teton Range

MOOSE, WY-Grand Teton National Park will host special interpretive astronomy programs this weekend at Colter Bay. From Friday, September 2 through Sunday, September 4, Dark Ranger Telescope Tours and Colter Bay staff will provide visitors numerous opportunities to learn about astronomy and its cultural history, stargaze and view solar events through special telescopes, take a constellation tour, and learn more about the planets. All of the programs are educational, family-oriented, and free and open to the public.

The Night Sky Festival events at Colter Bay include:
Friday, September 2
1PM-3PMSolar Astronomy on the Back Deck of the Colter Bay Visitor Center.
                10PM-11:30PM:  Stargazing with telescopes at Colter Bay Swim Beach.
 
Saturday, September 3
10AM-12PMPlanet Walk on the Lakeshore Trail.
1PM-3PM:  Solar Astronomy on the Back Deck of the Colter Bay Visitor Center.
7:45PM-8:15PM:  Planet Viewing in the Twilight at Swim Beach.
9PM-10PM:  Ranger Program “Watchers of the Sky” at the Colter Bay Amphitheater.
10PM:  Laser Constellation Tour at Swim Beach.
 
Sunday, September 4
10AM-12PMPlanet Walk on the Lakeshore Trail.
1PM-3PM:  Solar Astronomy on the Back Deck of the Colter Bay Visitor Center.
7:45PM-8:15PM:  Planet Viewing in the Twilight at Swim Beach.
9PM-10PM:  Ranger Program “Dark Wars” at the Colter Bay Amphitheater.
10PM:  Laser Constellation Tour at Swim Beach.
               10PM-11:30PM:  Public Stargazing with telescopes at Swim Beach.
